Venues rankings for the site directory

Hi,

It's been suggested in the last internationalization meeting that I should implement somesort of ranking system for the directory here that's a bit more complicated then just adding a vote.

Honestly, though I understand the request, I'm a bit hesitant to go through with it. I believe that the current voting system together with user free commenting will better serve the community. The reasons for that , which I didn't go to in that meeting's disucssion, is that a social ranking system that's valid is extremely difficult if not impossible to implement right.

More over, although not as sensitive as professors, I do not wish this to be a negative system where someone may punish venues they have something against. I would rather see that in a constructive well-put comment. Keeping it simple with a general "give a point" system seems to me like the straight forward way to do it.

I am open for a discussion on this. I will not go through with implementing this feature without fully seeing how it serves what we're trying to do. For those who see this feature as a go-no-go for their participation in iFood or putting information on iNCKU, I would say that I think that full-rankings as were suggested are the last step required. First step would be to get the information out there. Currently, there are only 1-2 contributors, and the directory isn't building up.
