need help to get started in tainan :)

hi all :)

i am a student from austria and need some help to get started in tainan ,especially finding an accommondation.

so,i have an offer to stay in a dorm,but a little flat or a flat sharing community would be the thing i am rather looking for.

i will arive in tainan on 23rd of janury, and will leave on 10th july. perhaps someone of you knows a good place where i can stay..

i am not verry choosy, but the there should be at least one room for each person due to privacy , internet,washing machine toilette and shower :)

the price should be about 5000 NTD. i would be really really grateful about good tips :)

How to look for an apartment in Tainan

Hi,

Following is from something I wrote to help friends find an apartment in Tainan on a different site, I hope that might help you :

If you're someone searching for an apartment in Tainan, there are a few methods to go about that:

  • Apartment boards for students in the university - mostly one room student accomodation, I was looking for something a bit bigger.
  • Just walking around and noticing "rent out" ads.
  • Going into building that look promising and asking if they know of anything.
  • Websites - foreigners rely on the Tainan bulletin board which is very limited, but there are about 10 Taiwanese websites in Chinese that are very helpful

I suggest you check out 6mama first.

i already have known the homepage of 6mama.com, but the problem is,that i am i will arrive end of janury.. so i i dont think its possible to book a flat now there.

perhaps i have to wait until dezember for booking a flat :)

i know 2 ppl how did the exchange program last year,but they were male *G* but i remember that i read her travelreport :).  i come to tainan alone,so i am very delighted about new contacts :) especially english one are important for me at the beginning,because my chinese skills are very poor (means zero *G*) (yet). 

so,perhaps u could give me a kind of contact which helps me to contact you (MSN, yahoo messanger or smth. like that). 

hope you have nice weather in taiwan *G*

Servus Daniel,

 My suggestion would be spend the first month in the dormitory, and search for the apartment at the same time. You can move out from the dormitory anytime anyways. Besides, it might be interesting to see the dormitory culture in Taiwan which is extremely different from the Studentenheim here. Also you might meet your interestingly roommates.

On the other hand, after you settle down first in the dormitory temporily, you can take your time looking for the apartment, also because you will know some locals or internationals there who can recommend you the place to look for, or maybe someone is looking for flatmate too. Afterall it's quite difficult to search for it only through internet.

staying at dorm temporarily and look for better apartment instead of getting it done through internet would always satisfy you... but i think you can still do it the way you feel good about ! ^ ^  I am a localer , born and grew up in Taiwan...you can contact me at 0912125553  or MSN : jmoihkne222@hotmail.com  , when you come , I will try my best to help ....
