Looking for Temp Accommodation
Hi guys,
I'm arriving in Tainan in early September and need somewhere temporary to stay while I look for proper living quarters.
I'm looking to stay for 1 - 2 weeks in a taofang or something similar. I was going to stay at a cheapy hotel called jingdu (where I'd stayed before, depending on price) but they've changed their number since I went there a few years back :(
I was looking at Tainan Hostel as well but I don't know what their bathroom's going to be like (having stayed at a hostel in taipei that was just...gross...).
In the end I want to live in a sharehouse with Taiwanese students, but I need a place while I wait. I guess I don't mind paying up to $2k a week (since it's only temporary). I can't apply for a dorm since I'm a language centre student.
Anybody know anything? Any help would be great :)
Cheers,
Tash

Temp accomodation in Tainan
It might not be an optimal solution, but what I did the first time I arrived in Tainan was to stay at the very cheap, yet clean and spacious, love hotel across the square from the Tainan train station, across the street from the fancy Tainan Hotel. On the 11,12,13 floor, I think it was, is a collection of short-stay hotels, running for 400-600 a day and lower rates per week. After a few days, there are endless one-month try-out student accommodations around the university you can just walk around and find for yourself with the Chinese characters for "rent out".
As for finding the apartment, I wrote about that here :

BTW - there are quite a few couchsurfing folks around in Tainan. That might be an option for a few days as well if you can let them know a week or so in advance (http://www.couchsurfing.com, http://www.hospitalityclub.org/)
Good luck, see you in CLC
