ISAD - Your countrymen need your help! Would you like to help them?

Quote:

Dear all,

Do you remember the uneasiness you felt when you first arrived at Taiwan after a long plane ride? Do you remember the inconveniences you encountered because of cultural and language differences? Do you still remember the deep feeling of kinship you felt when you met somebody from your own country? Do you still remember the camaraderie that arose out of helping each other?

Today, you have gradually become embedded into Taiwanese culture. However, would you like to do something for newcomers from your own country? As the new batch of foreign students are about to arrive at Taiwan, they must also feel as uneasy as you did when faced with the unfamiliarity of Taiwan. With your help they might find it easier to adjust to life in Taiwan. With help from their fellow countrymen they'll feel a closer connection to home. With a common cultural background to share with, they will feel much less lonely.

Your countrymen need your help! We hope you will be willing to stand up for your countrymen and serve as a liaison between ISAD and students from your country.  Most importantly, we hope you will be willing to help foreign students adjust to life in Taiwan, and life at National Cheng Kung University!

If you and your fellow countrymen already at NCKU are willing to form a student association for your country, or even if you simply want to informally help students from your country, please let ISAD know by Monday, June 2, 2008 the latest! You can e-mail, phone, or even drop by our office in person, but do let us know! After you sign up your email contact information will be provided to new foreign students.

        Sincerely yours,   Stacy Lin
