so,i will arrive ncku on monday,21st janury. i will participate an international exchange program for students and will stay there for one semester :) i am really looking forward to it ..

my big question is,whats the easiest way to find the other exchange students/ english teachers  / imba stundents ? :)

i could really need some friends there , because i will come alone to taiwan.

anyone of you in a dorm ?? :)

 to my person :

i am 25 years old, from austria and will study at the department of electrical engineering and chinese language center :)

Finding internationals in Tainan or NCKU

... shouldn't really be that difficult. They're usually hanging out at the same dorms, at the same places (next to the 7-11, the Armory, etc...) and are especially easy to spot around the university and food/drinks places around it (Masa, etc.).

I'm sure you'll figure out things pretty quick when you get here.

A great way to get some good friends quickly is join the Chinese Language Center classes which are usually 2 hours a day. There's little that brings people together like struggling for a new language... maybe aside from alchohol.

When you get here, I think you'll be assigend a local Taiwanese from the ISAD or your department to show you around a bit. That could be a good start to meet some locals.

If you need any other help, or have a more specific question - let me know.

Fili

Cool~

I was asking because there were some from NCKU doing exchange programs at Linz, and one of them is one of the most outstanding officers when I was rnning toastmasters Club in NCKU. Now she is with her bf and studying there ~ She is Evie Liu~ Will see you , if you wanna meet her before you come to Taiwan , please , drop me a line in the iNCKU mail and I will let you contact her. She would be willing to tip you off about beginner in Taiwan , in fact her bf was here last year.

Servus Linzer! :)

Hi Daniel,

Mike informed me of your post here. I supposed you were the one who asked my bf, Joachim,  about electrical engineering in NCKU, which is also my university.  I am glad to know that you are really going to Tainan "soon."

I dont know if you need any help before starting off, but I am currently in Linz with my bf anyways. So if you want to know more about anything, my bf and I will be more than willing to help you. Maybe a coffe or meeting in Mensa will be a good idea too.

To answer your concer, I think Fili made a good suggestion already. My bf would suggest the same thing too. Chinese Language center would be the easiest way. The thing is, Tainan is more or less a little bit like Linz. There are not too many venues so you easily meet all the internationals.

Anyways, if you want to meet, feel free to write me back.

 Alles Gute

Evie

Servus Linzer! :)

Hi Daniel,

Mike told me about your post here. I suppose you are the guy who asked my bf, Joachim about the electrical engineering in NCKU before. I am glad to know that you are going real soon.

Seems like you are flying in a few days only. But if you still want to know more about anything in Tainan and NCKU, my bf and I will be more than willing to help you since we are all in Linz now. A coffee or meeting at mensa will also be a nice idea.

To answer your concern, Fili already made a good suggestion. Taking class in Chinese language center will be the easiest way to know internationals in campus. Otherwise there are some venues that all the internationals and expats in Tainan ususally hang out, since Tainan is more or less like Linz. You know where pepople usually go.

One thing to remind you is, from Feb. 6th until Feb. 14 is Chinese new year which is like Weihnachten here. Most of the places are closed. So make sure you have some plan to do or place to go in case you will be pretty bored there.

Feel free to contact me if you want to meet.

 Alles Gute

Evie
