combine IMBA and PhD council groups

Fili,

do you think it makes sense to combine these two groups?

or is it possible to combine certain topics?

eg Academic level which concerns all of us...

I highly support this idea...

for the following reasons:

- most of our concerns are mutual

- IMBA student council seems to be more active that the PhD one, so I am hoping this might encourage some of the PhD students to start speaking up and get more active as well

I would also make a suggestion to merge the councils themselves, not just the groups on this website. In my opinion this can be beneficial for all of us.

What do the fellow students think about this?..

Hey

Olia,

I think we are conversing more via this website than when we were sitting outside on the balcony just 5 min ago...

I am not sure if a merge of the councils themselves will be beneficial in the long run, because there will probably be topics that are of more concern to one program than for the other. The next aspect may be the formal representation of a program towards the senior administration (not to forget this formality has very high regards in this culture).

For sure the interaction within these councils must be improved in the future. For obvious reasens.

But at this point I think this discussion should be moved to the respective groups, I am not sure if it will be found in -feature requests-.

Interaction

I don't think the councils should merge because each has its own problems that need to be dealt with. However, there must be a lot of interaction between the two. Perhaps a joint meeting once a month to discuss issues in the program?

When dealing with issues such as academic standards, professors, course choices or the future of our program I think it is imperative that we present a united front to the faculty and university.

We'll keep them seperate...

for the time being...

I think the way things are right now is that we are on a somewhat separate path. I would hardly call what we have a council, but I think we (PhD) can take part in the masters council and have them represent us or work with us on some of the more general topics.

If we'll see that this changes later on - merging is easy. It's separating that's a bitch.
